so that is why the bird food disappears!

It must have been a tough winter for the squirrels. They are now so skinning they can fit between the bars.....

Rain, Rain, Rain

What a day. The rain, the winds and more rain. I think we had 2-3 inches of rain. I read on the internet that 1 inch of rain equals 10 inches of snow. I am glad that it was a relatively warm 48. Paul and I still had a good time.

We were given tickets to see the Flyers play the Black Hawks. It was an afternoon game, so we could at least see the big puddles on our swim to the stadium. The walk from the parking lot was like taking an outdoor shower while being pushed from behind. My jeans got soaked, front and back. I had never been to a Flyers game so I was looking forward to the event. Many people had ventured through the floods to see the game. It was a rippling sea of Orange and Black with a few Indian heads sprinkled in. I must say the Black Hawk fans were very polite. I don't know if it's because they are from the Midwest or because they have heard what a rowdy, unpredictable crowd the Philadelphia fans can be and didn't want to cause trouble.

The Flyers started out with a flurry in front of the Black Hawks goaltender. Then the Black Hawks got their legs under them and the two teams were pretty evenly matched with the goaltenders keeping it scoreless for the first two periods. Finally the Flyers got on the board with the Black Hawks answering quickly. Chicago found the net again but the goal was called back, it went over the line after a whistle was blown. Chicago found the net again, the stadium got quiet, I mean really quiet, for the next few minutes. Up until that point the stadium had a low din of noise. When the Flyers were down, it was quiet. Then with 2 minutes left, the Flyers scored. A tie isn't so bad but the boys kept playing hard. Both teams lost a player to penalty so now it was 4v4 on the ice. That was exciting. The play rushed back and forth between goals. Both teams trying to score. Then with 2.1 seconds on the clock a Flyer flicked the puck over the goaltenders shoulder and SCORE! Flyers win 2-1. The crowd went wild. The Flyers got a standing ovation.

In an interview of the Flyers goaltender after the game he said he had never heard the crowd so loud.

What a fun afternoon!
